A unique suite of artist tools for painters. Choose a reference image from your Album or using the camera - great for "en plein air" painters. Explore the image using filters (edge, squint, notan, painterly) with or without rule-of-thirds overlay. Unique tools to help you better visualize colors and values - use touch gestures to drag windows across your image that expose and reveal such information with less visual clutter that would otherwise impact image analysis

The app comprises two sets of tools: image filters and tools to help you better evaluate image colors and values

Filter-related:
•Original: reset the picture to its original state - i.e., reset any zooming and remove any filtering
•Squint: use the slider set set more or less blur on the image
•Edges: applies fixed amount of filtering to help show up edges. May not work so well with "busy" images. Combine with the ROT grid to help initially draw an outline of the image on your canvas
•Notan: stark black and white view of the image to can help focus more on all shapes in the image vs. discrete elements such as the subject and BG
•Painterly: best used on an unprocessed photo (vs. existing painting) - provides idea of what your image might look like as an oil painting. Use the sider to adjust the strength
•Posterize: reduces color dynamic range into a number of color levels. Tap the button to cycle through color levels from 1 to 5. Can provide more insights into the color composition by breaking down into fewer colors
•Gamma: use the slider to adjust the luminance of the image
•Crop: drag on the corners or sides of the marquis. Cropped image will be saved in a custom album called PainterPal Album
•Rule of 3rds: overlay image with an ROT grid to assist in composition
•Golden Spiral: overlay image with Golden Spiral to assist in composition. Tap button to rotate
•Toggle BG: toggle background between black & white
•Zoom image: double-tap image to zoom in, tap once with two-fingers to zoom out or pinch

Value-related:
•Grayscale Bar: overlays grayscale strip that you drag around the image to assess different values. Tap the strip to change orientation
•Value Range: overlays two windows that you can drag around the image independently to assess different values
•Color Range: overlays a strip to help evaluate colors by focusing on a specific area, removing surrounding noise. Tap strip to change its orientation
•Value Swatches: overlays two windows that you can drag around the image independently. Each swatch incorporates a grayscale value that you can adjust by tapping the swatch
